My Personal Philosophy on HEALTH & LIFE
My mom always told me (usually after I hurt myself) , “You only have one body, you need to take care of it.”, and these words have resonated with me my entire life.
I believe that health is not only the absence of disease, but one’s ability to thrive in the mental, physical, and spiritual aspects of being; as well as having the ability to adapt to any force attempting to de-rail alignment with these pillars.
I strive to maintain balance –to remain aligned– in all things, yet take the world as it is, and choose to move forward with a positive outlook.
This is my journey, and I’m here to help others along the way
Hi! My name is Dr. Ralph Nebling,
I was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey and grew up in a rural, yet urban, town in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. I’ve been visiting Virginia Beach on family vacations all of my life and loved it so much I decided to call it home! And this is how I got here…
Growing up I always had a desire to help people and, after participating in sports, I thought I could do so through physical fitness. I graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and a Minor in Nutrition from West Chester University of PA. Strength and Conditioning was my aim, and I had a coaching opportunity with the NCAA lined up . But upon graduation I tore my ACL, and due to surgery, that career path came to a screeching halt.
Towards the end of physical therapy, I began running again to get back into shape, but after about a 1/2 mile I had to completely stop due to excruciating low back pain; I was literally buckled over and on my knees. My exercise-physiology-mind thought I had a muscular imbalance due to a lot of PT on my hurt leg and not so much on my “good” leg, which was causing my pelvis to twist. After trying to balance things out myself, nothing really improved. So, I went to the Chiropractor.
After about a week or two I could run a mile with significantly less pain, and after 4 weeks I was running 3 miles with ease! I learned that Chiropractic is SOO much more than pain, and that our bodies really do heal from the inside-out! (If you haven’t read the Chiropractic 101 section click here!)
I was so inspired by my new knowledge and results that I decided to pursue a career in Chiropractic. I packed up and moved down to Spartanburg, South Carolina to attend Sherman College of Chiropractic. Whilst there, I’ve attained extensive knowledge about the spine, nervous system, and human body as a whole. My #1 goal is to get your body functioning better, and my background in athletics gives me the drive to help others who are striving to achieve better physical health and overall wellness.
As a former athlete, and current weekend warrior, I’ve had my fair share of health issues that have humbled me. Thesenhealth issues have aided me in helping my patients.
I know, as a patient, it can be difficult to find a doctor you trust. I assure you that it is my daily goal to make sure you are receiving the highest quality care to help you on your health journey.
I love what I do. I get to help people do what THEY want to do, without them having to worry about their bodies!
On a more personal note, I’m pretty eclectic and easygoing. I workout 3-5xwk, eat healthy, but still like to have a beer on occasion. I like any type of music, the beach and the mountains, my favorite color is blue, and I have a rescue-doggo named Lilly
